VFW Post 11447: Minutes of April 2017 Meeting
OPENING CEREMONIES: Commander Rogers called the meeting to order at 1007 hours, 12 APR 2017. Opening ceremonies were held according to VFW Ritual. Fourteen 11447 members were present.
ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: The Roll Call was taken by Adjutant Burnett. Nine Officers were present, 2 were absent (both excused).
NEW RECRUITS: The Commander asked if there were any new recruits. Adjutant said there were 4 recruits. Recruits Chris Decker, USN; Patrick Keith, USN; Michael Setzer, USN; and Francisco Baylon, USN. All were found to be eligible for membership based upon their service and applications. Comrade Burnett made a motion that they be approved as new members of Post 11447. Motion seconded by Comrade Corbin. Motion carried. Welcome aboard Chris, Patrick, Michael and Francisco.
MINUTES: Commander asked if the minutes from the previous meeting had been posted. The Adjutant said that the minutes were posted and emailed to members. No changes were made. Motion was made by the Adjutant to approve the minutes as posted. Motion seconded by Comrade Marshall. Motion approved.

QUARTERMASTER REPORT: Commander called for the report of the Quartermaster:
QM Burnett presented the report and made the motion to accept the report as audited. Seconded by Comrade Corbin, motion carried.
Canteen Fund shows being in the red again. This is normal for this time of the year as Business Permits, taxes and other items relating to renewing permits are paid. Taxes and city services (garbage, water etc) are higher this year. Permits should be issued in March or early April and the Canteen will eventually get back into the profit margin.
SERVICE OFFICER REPORT: Several members are not well. Currently Mike Best is at home, but had been going to Lourdes Hospital several times a month for chemotherapy. Since the meeting Mike had been admitted for several days at Lourdes and put in ICU. Back home now but confined to bed. Dave Langan still not well and Frank Hilliard still not 100%. Note: Comrade Dave Snyder, who died two weeks ago will be buried on 4 May at Clark Veterans Cemetery at 1000 hours
SURGEON'S REPORT: The Dental Outreach will be held in Brgy San Isidro, Subic., Aug/Sep timeframe.
COMRADE OR FAMILY MEMBER IN DISTRESS: NTR
PUP TENT 11: The Seam Squirrel reported that they had a LOUSY SCRATCH. Nominations were closed and election for officers for the 2017-18 term was held.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Picnic was held at APO Family Resort on 4 Apr from 1000hrs to 1600hrs. Over 100 participants attended the event. Annual fees to sponsor a child are now P1000.
WEBSITE: Updates being made (slowly).
BEACH BASH: The Beach Bash was successful and a lot of fun. Financially it did well too, the Post made a profit of P186,604 or $3340. Thank you to all of the members who helped with the event and those members and guests that made donations and/or sponsorships.
POST HOUSE/BUILDING COMMITTEE: Meeting was held, routine business discussed.
HOSPITAL/HOME VISITS BY POST MEMBERS: Chairman gave the report for MAR visits. 54 members made 44 visits, saw 70 patients, spent 153 hours in visits and travel 2088 miles, gifts $45.20. Total for MAR $4024.45.
BUDDY POPPY CHAIRMAN: Buddy Poppy donations were P500 ($10).
Commander asked the Chaplain to say a prayer for our National Home for Children.

District meeting 18 April in Bauang, La Union, VFW Post 9892. (Note: Commander Rogers, Adjutant Burnett and Comrade Corbin attended the meeting. Tom Burnett was elected QM, and John Corbin District Chaplain.
DPA Convention 11-15 June at Subic Grand Harbour Hotel. SBMA.
25 Apr. ANZAC Day (Note. A large turnout by VFW members, more than 20 attended. The Post provided a wreath with all local veteran organizations on the banner, i.e. VFW, PT11, AMERICN LEGION Post 4, and FRA POST 367
50/50 was won by Comrade Burnett who received P750.
CLOSING CEREMONIES: The Charter remained draped for departed Comrades John Hunt and Fred (Fox) Cullen. Closing Ceremonies were held according to Ritual and the meeting was adjourned at 11:15. The next GMM will be held 12 May at 1000 hours.
