VFW Post 11447: Minutes of August 2018 Meeting
OPENING CEREMONIES: The Commander called the meeting to order at 1003 hours, 8 AUG 2018. Opening ceremonies were held according to VFW Ritual. Sixteen members were present.
ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: Roll call was taken of officers; eleven Officers were present, one absent, not excused.
NEW RECRUITS: The Commander asked if there were any new recruits. The Adjutant reported no new recruits.
MINUTES: Commander asked if the minutes from the previous meeting had been posted. The minutes were posted and emailed to members. No changes were made. Motion was made for the minutes to be approved as posted and seconded by Comrade Corbin. Motion approved.

QUARTERMASTER REPORT: Commander called for the report of the Quartermaster:
The QM gave his report, which was audited by the Trustees prior to the meeting. The QM made the motion for the report to be approved as presented and audited. Seconded by Comrade Corbin.
SERVICE OFFICER REPORT: Comrade Simms is not doing well. Besides his liver problem, a blood clot was discovered in his head. Will be going to AUF hospital for a full body scan soon.
SURGEON'S REPORT: The next Dental Outreach will be held 14-16 Sep. The site has not been picked yet, but in the works.
COMRADE OR FAMILY MEMBER IN DISTRESS: Scott Sims is at Clark Medical Center, room 438. Comrades Greg Langhan and Ed Spears resting at home.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Students are in school, but missing a lot of days due to heavy rains and flooding.
WEBSITE: Updates ongoing.
POST HOUSE/BUILDING COMMITTEE: The patio and its roof has been removed for the widening of the highway. Still no decision from the engineers about the status of our front wall. We have a slight problem with bugs in the canteen; employees are moving items around and spraying with insecticide. May have to call in professional exterminators to handle the problem
HOSPITAL/HOME VISITS BY POST MEMBERS: Chairman gave the report for JUL visits. 15 members made 2 visits and saw 2 patients at hospitals/home visits, also conducted two burials. Spent 41 hours in visits and travel time, gifts/expenses $500.00 and travel 160 miles. Total: $1446.95. A $500 grant from DPA was presented to Greg Langhan by Comrades Robbins, Niemela and Wilson.
BUDDY POPPY CHAIRMAN: Buddy Poppy donations were P550.
Commander asked the Chaplain to say a prayer for our National Home for Children.
VFW NATIONAL HOME FOR CHILDREN: NTR
Adjutant reported that the request from National for donations from Posts and members has been met. Funds that was voted on at the last meeting has been sent to National. A check for $50 was mailed.
Comrade Rowe made a motion that the Post Building Fund be use for any expenses that are needed due to the widening of the highway. Including patio removal and front wall if necessary. Seconded by Comrade Wilson. Motion carried.
