OPENING CEREMONIES: Commander Rogers called the meeting to order at 1001 hours, 14 DEC 2016. Opening ceremonies were held according to VFW Ritual. Eighteen 11447 members were present.
ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: The Roll Call was taken by Adjutant Burnett. Nine Officers were present, 2 were absent (both excused).
NEW RECRUITS: The Commander asked if there were any new recruits. Adjutant said there were 5 recruits. Recruits are Patrick Banahan, Desert Storm/Shield veteran; David L. Cavanaugh, Korea Duty and Expeditionary Operations; Jeffery M. Fuller, Expeditionary Operation (USS Omaha, 1984); Brian J. King, Hostile Fire/Imminent Danger (Bahrain 2000-2003), Global War on Terrorism; and Pineda, Virgil A., Iraq veteran. All were found to be eligible by the Review Committee and Comrade Burnett made a motion that all five recruits be approved as new members of Post 11447. Motion seconded by Comrade Correll. Motion carried. Welcome aboard recruits.
MINUTES: Commander asked if the minutes from the previous meeting had been posted. The Adjutant said that the minutes were posted and put on the website. No changes were made. Motion was made by the Adjutant to approve the minutes as posted. Seconded by Comrade Correll. Motion approved.
DISTINGUISHED GUESTS: "Marine" Steve, David Metherell, and Scout Master Terry White were permitted to speak about VFW Post 11447 sponsoring a Boy Scout Troop in the Olongapo/Subic area.
QUARTERMASTER REPORT: Commander called for the report of the Quartermaster:
QM Burnett presented the report and made the motion to accept the report as audited. Seconded by Comrade Rowe, motion carried.
SERVICE OFFICER REPORT: Comrade “Sully” Sullivan was buried in Iloilo on 24 Nov. The Post donated P10, 000 and it was matched by the Pup Tent 11 and P5000 donated by the Adjutant for a total of P25,000 to help with his burial.
SURGEON'S REPORT: Next year’s Dental Outreach will be held in Brgy San Isidro, Subic. Some items and medicines from the last outreach will be available for use. Some of the medications that were not previously used still have a useable shelf life.
COMRADE OR FAMILY MEMBER IN DISTRESS: Don Randolph was diagnosed with cancer and has been in the hospital. (Note: Comrade Randolph joined the Staff of the Supreme Commander on 23 DEC. Burial details will be announced when confirmed). Comrade John Hunt passed on. He moved back to the States several years ago. Comrade Robert McGlew is in Clark Medical Center with back problems. Comrade Mike Best has pneumonia and is resting at home.
PUP TENT 11: The Hungry Cootie reported that they had a LOUSY SCRATCH. The members of the Pup Tent Chili Cook-off team had pity on PT 7 Bauang, La Union, who haven’t had the privilege of taking care of the “Great Blue Louse” and let them borrow the “GBL” for a year!
COMMANDER CALLED FOR COMMITTEE REPORTS:
MEMBERSHIP REPORT: QM Burnett gave the report.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Note: The Christmas party was held at the Brgy Hall, Barretto on 21 DEC. There was a good turnout with most of the children in attendance. Well done to Chairman Carmen Hendricks, who has been doing this for over 12 years. Special thanks to all of her volunteers. Comrade Rowe performed as Santa for two children’s parties that day.

POST HOUSE/BUILDING COMMITTEE: Plans are in the works for repairing the Canteen bar surface and replacing rotten wood.
HOSPITAL/HOME VISITS BY POST MEMBERS:Chairman gave the report for NOV visits. 29 members visited 46 veterans, spent 82 hours in visits.
BUDDY POPPY CHAIRMAN: Buddy Poppy donations were P790 ($16.45)
VFW NATIONAL HOME FOR CHILDREN: Commander asked the Chaplain to say a prayer for our National Home for Children.
Last month the members approved a motion for the Post to donated $200 towards the New Homes Program. Comrade Verville presented the money to the Department QM.
FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER
Scout Master Terry White gave a presentation concerning setting up a Scouting organization in the Subic/Olongapo area. Comrade Tuzon was designated the liaison and tasked with collecting the details concerning possible VFW sponsorship and funding so that information could be presented at the next meeting for a vote of the membership.

The VFW Post 124 Baguio Fun Day Golf Tournament will be held on 1 Feb. The VFW District 7 meeting will be held the following day also in Baguio City at VFW Post 124. The Beach Bash is on track. Dates for the event are 10-12 Feb 2017, venue will be “DaBar” hotel and bar, and they have a beach area behind the building which will be suitable for the event.
50/50 was won by Comrade Vatter, who received P1835.
CLOSING CEREMONIES: Closing Ceremonies were held according to Ritual and the meeting was adjourned at 11:15. The Charter remained draped for departed Comrade Paul Griffin and Earl “Sully” Sullivan. The next GMM will be held 11 JAN at 1000 hours at the Post Home.
