OPENING CEREMONIES: Commander Verville called the meeting to order at 1000 hours, 14 JAN. Opening ceremonies were held according to VFW Ritual. Nineteen Post 11447 members were present.
ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: The Roll Call was taken by Adjutant Burnett. Seven Officers were present and five absent. SVC Moran, JVC Best, and Judge Advocate Hilliard were excused.

MINUTES: Commander asked if the minutes from the previous meeting had been posted. The Adjutant said that a copy of the minutes were posted on the bulletin board and sent to members via email, also posted on our websites. One change was made, Comrade Marshall sent me an E-mail that I spelled Grand Marshall wrong in the section concerning the Beach Bash. Should only have one L (Marshal). The Adjutant made the motion to accept the minutes as changed and posted, seconded by Comrade Doty, motion carried.
QUARTERMASTER REPORT: Commander called for the report of the Quartermaster:
QM Burnett presented the report and made the motion to accept the report as audited. Seconded by Comrade Spaulding, motion carried. The report is on file, see the QM if you would like to see the entire report.
The increase in General Fund was due to receipts from the CofA, however bills for some events/items at the CofA are still payable at this time. The employees received their $13th month pay at their Christmas Party. A total of $572 was paid with remainder of 13th month returned to Canteen Fund.
SERVICE OFFICER REPORT: Burial services will be conducted for a non-VFW member at Masinloc, Zambales (about 100km north of Olongapo, on 17 Jan at 10am. (Note: Services were performed with 6 VFW members present.) Bob Palmer is out of the hospital and resting at home, and JVC Best has pneumonia and resting at home.
SURGEON'S REPORT: Surgeon Houle absent. Commander said that we need to present appreciation letters to all volunteers who were at the Dental Outreach a few months ago, the Adjutant had already made letters for the Dentists, however need some for dental assistants and dependents/students who participated. (Adj Note: In the works).
COMRADE OR FAMILY MEMBER IN DISTRESS: Comrade Marshall still recuperating from surgery. SVC Moran and his wife Carol, who is under medical care, are still in the states.
PUP TENT 11: Blanket Bum reported that they had a LOUSY Scratch!
COMMANDER CALLED FOR COMMITTEE REPORTS:
MEMBERSHIP REPORT: QM Burnett gave the report.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: The children are getting ready for the Beach Bash, will be participating in some events and march in the parade.
BEACH BASH COMMITTEE: Carmen Hendricks gave an update on the Beach Bash at the meeting. The dates are set for 5-8 Feb. She said that she still needs pictures of previous years Beach Bash events. Can be on CD and/or photo paper. She asked if someone or a group could donate P10,000 to get shirts for the kids. The sponsor will have his name on the back of the shirts. Note: A few hours after the meeting Comrade Rowe said that he would donate for the shirts and help or do the design on the shirt. The last meeting for the Bash will be held on 24 Jan at 1300.
POST HOUSE/BUILDING COMMITTEE: As you can see in the QM report that the Canteen finish in the black for the first time in several months, expect this trend to continue into Feb. Inventories were conducted at the beginning of the month.
HOSPITAL/HOME VISITS BY POST MEMBERS: CDR Verville gave the report for Dec visits. 40 members made 40 visits to see 70 vets, spent 130 hours in visits, traveled 1428 miles and provided $17.64 in gifts. Total credited for Dec was $3050.26.
BUDDY POPPY CHAIRMAN: Buddy Poppy donations were P500 ($11).
VFW NATIONAL HOME FOR CHILDREN: Commander asked the Chaplain to say a prayer for our National Home for Children.
Commander asked if someone would make a motion for Comrade Hilliard to be nominated for the Post Home Committee to fill a vacancy. Comrade Niemela made the motion and seconded by Comrade Corbin. Motion carried.
The MOC PT11 requested that the membership approve the applications of David Niemela and Daniel Wilson for membership in the MOC. Comrade Corbin made the motion to approve and was seconded by Comrade Hinson. Motion carried.
Comrade Doty made a motion that Allen Marker be approved as the new Canteen Manager. Seconded by Comrade Wright. Motion carried.
FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER
Comrade Sandlin presented a plaque to the Post in relation to the Lingayen Gulf ceremony which was held on 9 Jan. At that ceremony he displayed his naval ship models that were engaged in the battle of Lingayen Gulf and Gen MacArthur’s landing. The display was donated to Philippine Officials after the ceremony. Well done Comrade Sandlin.
Next VA Outreach visit is scheduled for 0800-1200, 22 Jan. at Wild Orchid Resort. RAO Director Jack Walker is the host.
Several new items on the Canteen Menu, to include but not limited to the “Commander’s Sausage Special”- choose any type of sausage we have for P120. Also now making banana splits.
The charter which was draped for departed Comrade Jim Tyler last month was undraped.
Calendar of Events:
Cootie Scratch at 1400, 12 Feb. Schedule date was changed from the 5th due to conflict with District 7 meeting on that date in Baguio.
Fifty/fifty: Comrade Garrett won the 50/50 raffle. P2400 was collected. He donated his share (P1200) to the Scholarship Fund. Thank you Chuck.
DISTRICT 7 MEETING UPDATE: Per notification from Post 124, the 5 February District Officers Call and Meeting will be held at Gilligan's Island Restaurant on Legarda Road, Baguio City. Post 124 will coordinate transportation from the Baguio Country Club to the meeting location.
CLOSING CEREMONIES: Closing Ceremonies were held according to Ritual and the meeting was adjourned at 1058 hours. The next GMM will be held 11 Feb 2015 at 1000 hours at the Post Home.
