VFW Post 11447: Minutes of June 2017 Meeting

OPENING CEREMONIES: SS called the meeting to order at 1000 hours,7 JUN 2017. Opening ceremonies were held according to VFW Ritual. Fourteen 11447 members were present.

ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: Roll call was taken of officers, Eleven Officers were present, 1 Officer absent (D. Houle was excused).

NEW RECRUITS: The Commander asked if there were any new recruits. Adjutant said there was one recruit. VFW LM Roger Moberg is requesting to transfer to our Post from Post 9534 Mannheim, Germany. Comrade Moberg has signed the VFW Post Transfer and Member Declaration form. Adjutant made the motion that Comrade Moberg’s request be approved seconded by Comrade Corbin, approved.

MINUTES: Commander asked if the minutes from the previous meeting had been posted. The Adjutant said that the minutes were posted and emailed to members. No changes were made. Motion was made by the Adjutant to approve the minutes as posted. Seconded by Comrade Corbin. Motion approved.

QUARTERMASTER REPORT: Commander called for the report of the Quartermaster:

QM Burnett presented the report and made the motion to accept the report as audited. Seconded by Comrade Vetter, motion carried.

Scholarship Kids Fund in the red due to payment of school registration and school supplies.

SERVICE OFFICER REPORT: Mike Best is at home but currently confined to bed. His $500 grant had been approved and presented to him. The Post burial team conducted three burials in May.

SURGEON'S REPORT: TThe Dental Outreach will be held in Brgy San Isidro, Subic., Aug/Sep timeframe.

COMRADE OR FAMILY MEMBER IN DISTRESS: See Service Officer report.

PUP TENT 11: The Seam Squirrel reported that they had a LOUSY SCRATCH.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: School registration was paid and school supplies were given to the students

WEBSITE: Updates being made (slowly).

POST HOUSE/BUILDING COMMITTEE: Meeting was held, routine business discussed.

HOSPITAL/HOME VISITS BY POST MEMBERS:Chairman gave the report for MAY visits. 63members made 43 visits, saw 56 patients, spent 257 hours in visits and travel 4026 miles, Gifts $77.45. Total for MAY $6503.53.

BUDDY POPPY CHAIRMAN: Buddy Poppy donations were P620 ($13).

VFW NATIONAL HOME FOR CHILDREN: Commander asked the Chaplain to say a prayer for our National Home for Children.

Unfinished Business

Comrade Vetter said that the FRA has tents that had been loaned to VFW and FRA members that are in need of repair. Six 6 legged tents, and five 4 legged tens. Need funds to repair the tents. Following discussion about funding for repairs from the VFW and/or FRA a motion for funds under new business will not be brought up.

New Business

FRA 367 refurbished VFW and FRA tents, need to pay employees for two days work welding and repairing plus 18 additional days for cleaning, painting etc. Cost P20K, shared between the FRA 10k and VFW 10k. Motion to approved payments made by Comrade Vetter, seconded by Comrade Corbin. Motion carried.

Football flags go on sale 1 July.

Comrade Verville visited National Home for Children. He said that max stay for now is 4 years, and is now open to veteran families. The MOC fire department is manned by teenagers from the home.

2 JUL Fil/Am Day at Mangoes.

3 JUL District 7 meeting and Cootie Swarm

RSL provided 183 hearing aids to children in Iloilo, 9 more children need assistance for aids.

50/50 was won by Comrade Vetter who received P1050. Total was P2100
