VFW Post 11447: Minutes of May 2017 Meeting
OPENING CEREMONIES: SVC Niemela called the meeting to order at 1002 hours,10 MAY 2017. Opening ceremonies were held according to VFW Ritual. Twelve 11447 members were present.
ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: The Roll Call was taken by Adjutant Burnett. Nine Officers were present, 3 were absent (one excused). Surgeon Houle arrived late.
NEW RECRUITS: The Commander asked if there were any new recruits. Adjutant said there were no recruits, however we have a member from Korea who wants to transfer to our Post, Jim Mitch. Adjutant made the motion to accept the member, seconded by Comrade Rowe.
MINUTES: Commander asked if the minutes from the previous meeting had been posted. The Adjutant said that the minutes were posted and emailed to members. No changes were made. Motion was made by the Adjutant to approve the minutes as posted. Seconded by Comrade Corbin. Motion approved.

QUARTERMASTER REPORT: Commander called for the report of the Quartermaster:
QM Burnett presented the report and made the motion to accept the report as audited. Seconded by Comrade Corbin, motion carried.
Canteen Fund shows being in the red again. Most of the negative balance due to payment of rent (6 months) for back area in advance of normal payment date (due June), was paid in April at request of owner.
SERVICE OFFICER REPORT: Several members are not well. Currently Mike Best is at home, but had been going to Lourdes Hospital several times a month for chemotherapy. Back home now but confined to bed. Greg Langan still not well, at home on bed rest and Frank Hilliard still not 100%. Comrade Vincent Mischke has advance stage of cancer. Comrade Garret doing okay. Comrade Fantone in hospital at San Marcellino. Comrade Dave Snyder buried on 4 May at Clark.
SURGEON'S REPORT: The Dental Outreach will be held in Brgy San Isidro, Subic., Aug/Sep timeframe.
COMRADE OR FAMILY MEMBER IN DISTRESS: See Service Officer report.
PUP TENT 11: The Seam Squirrel reported that they had a LOUSY SCRATCH.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: School registration funds will be paid soon.
WEBSITE: Updates being made (slowly).
POST HOUSE/BUILDING COMMITTEE: Meeting was held, routine business discussed.
HOSPITAL/HOME VISITS BY POST MEMBERS: Chairman gave the report for APR visits. 60 members made 50 visits, saw 67 patients, spent 170 hours in visits and travel 2166 miles, Gifts $48.40. Total for APR $4196.42.
BUDDY POPPY CHAIRMAN: Buddy Poppy donations were P530 ($11).
VFW NATIONAL HOME FOR CHILDREN:Commander asked the Chaplain to say a prayer for our National Home for Children.
Due to the next Post meeting being scheduled during the Convention, it needs to be changed. Motion was made by Adjutant to change it to the first Wednesday of the month vice second. Meeting will be held on 7 June.
The Convention Chairman will have a room available for the Post and PT at the hotel. A place for Post members who are helping out to take a break, smoke a cigarette (on the balcony) and have a drink. Three beds also in the room for a nap. The Post and PT will share the cost of $140. Some free meals provided with the room.

DPA Convention 11-15 June at Subic Grand Harbour Hotel. SBMA.
50/50 was won by Comrade Rowe who received P1200. Total was P2400.
CLOSING CEREMONIES: The Charter remained draped for departed Comrade Fred (Fox) Cullen. Closing Ceremonies were held according to Ritual and the meeting was adjourned at 10:4 5. The next GMM will be held 7 June at 1000 hours.
