VFW Post 11447: Minutes of November 2016 Meeting

OPENING CEREMONIES: Commander Rogers called the meeting to order at 1004 hours, 9 NOV 2016. Opening ceremonies were held according to VFW Ritual. Sixteen 11447 members were present.

ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: The Roll Call was taken by Adjutant Burnett. Nine Officers were present, 2 were absent (both excused).

NEW RECRUITS: The Commander asked if there were any new recruits. Adjutant said there were no recruits.

MINUTES: Commander asked if the minutes from the previous meeting had been posted. The Adjutant said that the minutes were posted and put on the website. No changes were made. Motion made by the Adjutant to approved the minutes as Posted. Second by Comrade Rowe. Motion approved.


QUARTERMASTER REPORT: Commander called for the report of the Quartermaster:

QM Burnett presented the report and made the motion to accept the report as audited. Seconded by Comrade Best, motion carried.

SERVICE OFFICER REPORT: Comrade "Sully" Sullivan died on 7 Nov, he had been in a Iloilo hospital following a heart attack. He will be buried on 24 Nov in Iloilo. Comrade Hilliard condition is improving and he can get around.

SURGEON'S REPORT: Dental Outreach was held in Barangay West Bajac-Bajac, Olongapo. Treated 52 patients, not the usual 100+ we normally do. The outreach date was change due to a death in the family of the senior dentist. Not everyone got the word. Next years outreach may be held in San Isidro, Subic City.

COMRADE OR FAMILY MEMBER IN DISTRESS: Don Randolph has been diagnosed with cancer.

PUP TENT 11: The Hungry Cootie reported that they had a LOUSY SCRATCH. Final plans were made for the Chili Cook-off.


MEMBERSHIP REPORT: QM Burnett gave the report.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Christmas party may be held at "By the Sea Resort", Sign up list for Christmas donations is on the VFW front door.

WEBSITE: NTR. The Post now has a webpage edited by the Post Public Affairs Officer.

POST HOUSE/BUILDING COMMITTEE: The sink counter has been repair and resurfaced. Repairs to the bar, which will include replacing rotting wood and installing a new surface for the top.

HOSPITAL/HOME VISITS BY POST MEMBERS: Chairman gave the report for OCT visits. 56 members made 44 visits, spent 164 hours in visits, traveled 2018 miles. Gifts totaled $69.80. Total credited for OCT was $4051.

BUDDY POPPY CHAIRMAN: Buddy Poppy donations were P750 ($15.62)

VFW NATIONAL HOME FOR CHILDREN: Commander asked the Chaplain to say a prayer for our National Home for Children.




Motion to approve $200.00 for the "Pacific House" at the VFW National Home For Children. Money to be provided to the Department of Pacific Areas subsequent to approval at the DPA Mid-Term C of A on 2-4 December. Seconded by Comrade Best. Motion carried unanimously.

District 7 meeting will be held on 10Nov at VFW Post 2485 in Angeles City. Officer call at 0930 and meeting at 1000. Nov 10th is also the USMC birthday. (Note: Meeting went well and there was a good turnout at the cemetery for Veteran's Day by the Subic Veteran organizations, American Legion, FRA, RSL and the VFW.

Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at Clark Cemetery at 1100 on the 11th of Nov. If you attend please wear your VFW shirt if you have one and cap.

FRA Chili Cook-off: Bus will leave FRA at 0700 and leave the VFW at approx 0800. Cost may be P1000 per person. Bring your snacks and drinks.

American Legion Commander will be visiting the Philippines on 26 Nov. Will have a dinner at Post123 in Angeles in honor of his visit. Post 4 new officers will be voted in on 11 DEC. Post 4 Annual dues is P1700, you can pay at the Post Canteen bar.

Jerry Rowe is ordering caps for the VFW and Cooties. He will also design and order the shirts for the Beach Bash.

50/50 was won by Comrade Schrauben, who P1400 which will be used to help pay bills at A.L. Post 4.

CLOSING CEREMONIES: Closing Ceremonies were held according to Ritual and the meeting was adjourned at 11:05. The Charter remained draped for departed Comrade Paul Griffin and Earl "Sully" Sullivan. The next GMM will be held 14 DEC at 1000 hours at the Post Home.
